Aspies see, sense and understand the world in a very different way. There is a set of mysterious and complex filtering mechanism in our brains to influence our daily behaviors. Every aspie was born with his/her unique set of filters.
I wear sunglasses to minimize bright lights in a daily basis and that's why I like to shop sunglasses! I could've worn hats too, however, my struggle with tactile hypersensitivity also makes wearing hats a huge challenge!
I am very good at noticing visual details and I have a fascination with moving objects (can't take my eyes off of them). Attention to details is quite useful for what I do for a living though sometimes that I need to control my obsession with details.
It’s not easy to manage sound sensitivity. With my super sensitive hearing, I could hear every tiny sound so intensely that they become noises which make me feel very uncomfortable and agitated, stress me out.
Now I always prepare several sets of headphones and listen to music when needed: one at home, one in the office and one in my handbag (to use while traveling on subway, cab or bus).
